Finding Treasure 2

As you might remember from my last blog I had found this rusty metal chest out on our property.

Of course you can’t really get too excited about something like this since chances are it is empty or only filled with dirt, yet I can’t shake the story of the couple that found jars filled with Gold Rush era coins that were worth a lot.

So, as I had mentioned before, I found this chest on a remote corner of the property amidst the rubble and trash that seems to span a time frame from somewhere mid-1940’s to the 1970’s.

In this area I have found many things including an old Wedgwood stove, a 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser, and an even older looking truck that has no distinctive markings, and then all the regular “trash” like beer/soda/food cans and jars from all time periods. I feel like an archeologist rummaging through the remnants of an old civilization.

But I digress, back to the box.

It was pretty rusted so it took a little effort to get it open but as I was doing that I could hear things rumble around in the box and so I got more excited.

I opened the box and behold……. it looks like I found someone’s lunch box from a long time ago!

Two old cans and a few spiders.

I’m not sure how old the cans are since there are no markings on them but they seem to be from before the “pull tabs”.

Well, no huge treasure but at least an interesting adventure.
